Dr. Nathan Swain is a board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation physician renowned for his team and patient-centered approach. Joining the Flagstaff Bone & Joint team in 2021, Dr. Swain is dedicated to providing comprehensive nonoperative treatments for acute or chronic spine and musculoskeletal injuries, sports-related concussions, and chronic pain management. He is committed to using his expertise surrounding musculoskeletal and spine disorders to enhance his patients’ pain and improve their limitations, ensuring they can participate fully in their preferred activities.
Dr. Swain's academic background includes an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Idaho, followed by a four year career as a medical device engineer. He completed his post-baccalaureate and pursued a medical degree at the Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, California. His postgraduate training includes a traditional osteopathic rotating internship at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis, Oregon, and a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California. Further honing his expertise, Dr. Swain completed a sport and spine fellowship at EvergreenHealth in Kirkland, Washington, making him a fellowship-trained specialist in minimally invasive procedures and advanced technologies utilizing ultrasound and fluoroscopy.
