About Dr. John Flint

Dr. John Flint is a preeminent upper extremity surgeon who has made significant contributions to Flagstaff Bone & Joint since joining the team in 2010. His impressive academic journey began with graduating summa cum laude from Brigham Young University, followed by obtaining his medical degree with honors from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, a facility recognized for its excellence in orthopaedic care. Dr. Flint then honed his skills further with a fellowship in upper extremity surgery at Triangle Orthopaedic Associates in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where he worked alongside hand and shoulder surgeons trained at prestigious institutions like the Mayo Clinic and Duke University Hospital.

In addition to his surgical prowess, Dr. Flint is fluent in both Spanish and English, allowing him to offer outstanding care to a diverse patient demographic. His commitment to patient care is further exemplified by his introduction of wide-awake hand surgery to his practice. This innovative approach allows patients to undergo certain hand surgeries without the need for general anesthesia or sedation, offering several benefits including reduced recovery times, lower risks associated with anesthesia, and the opportunity for patients to communicate with Dr. Flint during the procedure. This method has significantly enhanced patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Outside of work Dr. Flint enjoys spending time with his family, serving in his church and community, travelling, exploring the great outdoors, hiking, skiing, running and mountain biking. He also enjoys table tennis and pickle ball.
