New Upper Extremity Expert Dr. Derek Smith Joins Flagstaff Bone & Joint July 1

Derek B. Smith, M.D., fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity surgeon, will join Flagstaff Bone & Joint, the region’s most preferred orthopaedic practice. Starting July 1, Dr. Smith will be available to see patients in Flagstaff at 525 N. Switzer Canyon Drive, in Kingman at 2331 Hualapai Mountain Road and in Cottonwood at 480 S. As a fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity surgeon, Dr. Smith offers the highest level of treatment for hand, wrist and elbow needs. He specializes in a wide variety of advanced procedures and techniques to effectively diagnose and treat hand and upper extremity issues.

Dr. Smith offers evidence-based, minimally invasive treatment and care management for the following injuries and conditions:

After receiving his Doctor of Medicine degree from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, Dr. Smith completed an internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at Oregon Health & Science University Hospital in Portland. Following his residency, Dr. Smith underwent extensive specialty training by completing the Mary S. Stern Hand Surgery Fellowship in Cincinnati through the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and TriHealth/Beacon Hand Surgery Specialists. Dr. Smith is also board-certified in orthopaedic surgery through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
